and whats with tom cruise trying to show off his ‘funny’ side? we all know hes an emotionless evil robot.
I agree about both things.
Cruise can try all he want, he’s not funny except when he’s just being himself trying to act normal.

Re: Austria’s Haider dies in accident in Chit-Chat
Well, I’m not too sad about it seeing how this guy was agitating people against immigrants just so he could collect votes (which really went well for him).
Of course, you don’t want that kind of death for anyone, but actually I think it’s a good thing that Haider is dead - as cruel as that sounds. In the long run he might have done too much damage for Austria. On the other hand, he’s going to become some kind of martyr now that he has died this spectacular death (he was after all speeding, but for some reason nobody is holding that against him).
In the elections only two weeks ago Haider came out as the big winner - not his party the BZÖ, but for him alone, because he was the cart horse. That means his party is pretty much over now. Too bad there’s another right-wing party called FPÖ who has a little Haider as a top candidate. Only days before Haider’s death, Haider more or less gave this guy his blessing, so everybody who voted for Haider in these elections, will vote for the FPÖ in the next.. Then this country will have a huge right-wing majority and we’ll be fucked.

Rocky - although I’d take parts III and IV over the others any day.
Back To The Future or Raiders Of The Lost Ark?

Re: Looking for funny British comedy shows in Chit-Chat
So, has anything new been released in the past 2 years or so? In the “Links to cool things thread” I discovered “Flight Of The Conchords”. That looks like a fun show. Reminded me a bit of “The Mighty Boosh”.
Anything else?

You dare diss the D? ;-) Yeah. I used to really like Jack Black, but it seems he’s doing the same thing over and over and he seems to get cast in every single fucking movie made today. But I gotta admit I thought he was great in Tropic Thunder. Shit film that shouldn’t have been shit…for me it’s gotta be that Dylan biopic I’m Not There.
Oh yeah, good call on “I’m Not There.” What a pretentious piece of shit.
I have to say I was disappointed with “Tropic Thunder”, too. It wasn’t a complete failure but no way did it deserve an IMDb ranking of 7.8 and the number one spot at the U.S. box office. What’s it with comedies these days anyways? Some get so much praise, but are mediocre at best. I’m especially thinking of all those Judd Apatow movies:
The 40 Year Old Virgin… boring and vulgar, but in an unfunny way.
Knocked Up… okay at best, but nothing to write home about
Superbad… this one was actually quite funny
Walk Hard… I so wished this would be great, but it sucked ASS!
Forgetting Sarah Marshall… again just okay. My main problem with all these films is there are scenes in them that drag on and on and on, and the dialog is supposed to be funny, but it’s not. It’s just shitty.
Haven’t seen Pineapple Express, yet, but I’m pretty sure it won’t live up to the good reviews it’s gotten, either.

Great poster, awful movie in Chit-Chat
Show some posters that look awesome and promising, but the movie is utter and complete bullshit.
Here’s an example:
http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2563481344/tt0081677
The 80’s with all their painted posters were a great decade for cool movie posters that hide the fact that it’s promoting a low budget crapfest

Re: Films that should be shit… but end up being great in Chit-Chat
I have to say that I enjoyed “Superhero Movie” a lot.
And “Freddy Vs. Jason”, though I never doubted for a second I would not love it to death.
The remakes of “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and “Dawn Of The Dead” were great, too, and surpassed the respective original, IMO.

The [smog] song that’s in the movie is “Vessel In Vain”. It’s right at the beginning of the movie.

Remember that diary entry by Andy in which he mentioned Brett Anderson and the Elastica singer? in Chit-Chat
Andy wrote something about how he met them at an awards show and that they were only friendly if you had the drugs. Of course, Andy didn’t refer to them by name, but he described them well enough that some WOMbles could figure out who he meant.
Well, anyway, I’m just reading “Kill Your Friends” by John Niven now, which is set in the mid-90’s (which is ace by the way!) and there’s a scene in which the main character walks into a toilet to sniff some cocaine and out come Brett Anderson and the singer of Elastica, who have apparantly just sniffed cocaine themselves.
Now, either those two were an infamous drug couple in those days or Niven (who is friends with James Dean Bradfield who is friends with Andy) based that incident on Andy’s experience.
Do you think that could be possible?
