Anyone dig?

Re: New Wildhearts Album / The Sweetest Song in Other Bands & Artists

Got high hopes for this.Wasn’t that impressed with the ‘comeback’ album, found it too lightweight and fluffy compared to the other stuff.Hoping Gingers regained his arse kicking songwriting ability.

And yeah, Earth VS and Fishing For Luckies are me faves.Big riffs and big tunes fitting together perfectly

They released four recordings before that, that are really considered demos now, but you can still find them in the usual places…

Look at this

Re: A General Patton Thread in Other Bands & Artists

Isn’t he meant to be doing something with Amon Tobin? Now that would be interesting.

Aha! it’s back!

http://www.youtube.com/results?search=mike+patton&search_type=search_videos

There’s some fantastic bits and peices on there.Fave stuff at the moment is the live Bungle stuff from the bizarre festival and the… erm, interesting performance of ‘God Hates A Coward’

Enjoy!

Re: A General Patton Thread in Other Bands & Artists

You were first and you have a nicer ass, so i’ll post in this one ;)

Love Patton in most of his various guises (excluding the rather, shall we say patience testing noise stuff with Merzbow/ John Zorn/Adult themes etc…)

imo however he’s never bettered those three Mr Bungle albums (anyone heard the reeeeeealy early demos? some of that’s fuckin’ awful!), particularly Disco Volante which is as impenetrable and unrelentingly strange and creative as you could ask for really.I find Tomahawk a bit ho hum i’m sorry to say, but i wouldn’t hesitate to see them live.

btw, have a look at http://www.youtube.com and search for mike patton as theres a goldmine of great stuff on there (it seems to be down at the mo but keep trying it). It’s interesting seeing FNM recording Angel Dust and totally shunning Jim Martin, Patton even teaches him how to play a guitar part at one point!

Other thing I wanted to know was who was the support in Wolverhampton? It was unhinged.

That be Ginger (obviously) with Tim Smith and Random Jon poole from Cardiacs.A unique and highly influential band that never get their due (least of all in this thread!)

And no, i didn’t see them, alas, too busy trying to get money!

Title: Youtube

Just a thought.

No doubt many of you are familiar with http://www.youtube.com and it’s potential for hosting a wealth of rare material and video performances yet there’s very little in the way of T? stuff (just a few promo vids really) that i’ve noticed.Anyone able to rectify this?

Re: Nathan Barley in Chit-Chat

Thought it was a big bag of jism meself.

Morris may have come out with some of the most incredible and unique tv/radio i’ve ever seen/heard but imo he’s been on a downward slide since Jam.Virtually everything since Blue Jam has been rehashes of old material.Bit sad really.

So what’s everyones fave Morris venture then?

Something that rarely gets mentioned is his stint on radio 1 in the mid-90’s, shockingly good radio shows that can be downloaded from ‘ere

Re: Bill Hicks in Chit-Chat

Anyways, here’s an infamous show from Chicago that no doubt many of have heard

Hicks Loses It

And an earlier rather more tame appearance in the same cityhttp://www.sacredcow.com/media/source/hicks/chicago/bill_chicago1_bg.rm-part 1

http://www.sacredcow.com/media/source/hicks/chicago/bill_chicago2_bg.rm-part 2

Whatever happened to the media page on Sacredcow.com?

Re: Bill Hicks in Chit-Chat

I’d go with that, it’s just that many of Hicks fans just agree with him about absolutely everything and repeat his arguments parrot fashion to avoid having to think for themselves. “advertising? sucking satans cock mate, like Bill Hicks said…” yada yada. How is stealing the opinions of others thinking for yourself?

Hicks was obviously extreme but i always got the impression that was to make a point, the harsher you put it the more people pay attention, even if this means getting very angry

Ian Mckaye seems like the most humourless man alive.

I doubt that’s true (hello Billy Corgan!)but you could get that impression of him onstage “Sir, please cease jumping around this isn’t some rock concert y’know. You could fall on someone and spill their drink…” or words to that effect.God he can bang on…

Re: American Dad is great ! in Chit-Chat

Anyone still watching these? I have to say i think this is of a better standard than the new Family Guys (series 4)which seem a bit tired and predictable now.I reckon FG peaked in the third series personally, now they seem more concerned with bringing back old characters that weren’t particularly funny to begin with…ah well

Billy Blue wrote:

This is the way I see it. Family Guy is a blatent rip off of The Simpsons, but is aimed at a different, slightly more adult audience. I happen to think Family Guy is a lot better than the Simpsons though. There are too many really flay and unfunny Simpsons episodes.

American Dad seems like a strange idea to make seeing as it is practically identital to Family Guy. It is watchable but has nothing on Family Guy.

I can only assume the only possible reason for someone to say Amercan Dad is good but Family Guy is crap, is to try and sound cool. Stop trying so hard to be alternative.

Its essentially the same show, same makers, same family unit with 2 strange members (i.e. talking dog and baby, talking alien and goldfish), same animation. Its the same!!!!

Woo! a post that’s actually been thought out a bit!

I’d have to agree though, American Dad isn’t really much different from FG in terms of style or humour, which makes it a bit surprising that most FG fans seem to think it’s shit

Richard Pryor in Chit-Chat

Title: Richard Pryor

Haven’t seen a mention of this guy on here even though he passed away the other week.

A real genius of comedy who unfortunately seems to be known more for his rather erratic film work than his genuinely groundbreaking and hilarious stand up.Those of you that are unfamiliar with his work are urged to get this and then those of you with cash should check out this epic nine disc set

Rest in peace motherfucker

Funniest onstage quote/rant in Therapy? Live

Title: Funniest onstage quote/rant

…from any member of the band

Was just thinking of a show i saw in early 2000 where some cock was shouting stuff out and Andy and Martin just completely verbally destroyed him for about 10 minutes and made the entire crowd laugh at them…this is actually a fairly rubbish example ‘cos i can’t remember exactly what was said, but presumably those of you who’ve been to a lot of their gigs or heard bootlegs will have better ones. They’re often quite the witty bunch.

Found this pretty funny as well. He’s fat and he’s a happy bastard oh yes.
