Re: T? support New Model Army in Cologne (22.12.2007) in Therapy? Live

Great gig. It was the first time I heard Innocent X en Brainsaw live since 1994. I especially enjoyed Teethgrinder, Potato Junkie and Isolation. The sound was muddy, the band not that tight (which was to be expected at this one-off-gig), but great venue, great atmosphere and great spirits! Really shouldn’t be moaning! Thanx T?

PS> Oh yeah. If you look at the setlist I thought was coming (http://www.therapyquestionmark.co.uk/wallofmouths/discussions/10825): replace Rock You Monkeys with Our White Noise and add Brainsaw and you’re there!

Setlist for Cologne 22-12-07! in Therapy? Live

(Think this “joke” has been made before).

Potato Junkie
Stories
Rust
If It Kills Me
Turn
Knives
Screamager
Rain Hits Concrete
Rock You Monkeys
Polar Bear
Innocent X
Die Laughing
Teethgrinder
Isolation
Nowhere

(They didn’t play Walk Through Darkness and Meat Abstract though they were on the setlist)

To make a long story short: who’s counting on at least one odd choice?

PS>Kinda thought I touched on a new subject, but apologies in advance if this were to be moved to the existing New Model Army topic.

Re: Therapy? to Groningen in Therapy? Live

Title: Yes, I will reply to myself

And the question if it’s a case of Therapy? specificly asking to play Oosterpoort or the people @ Oosterpoort just do a good job of booking Therapy? really is just a good question for the FAQ-competition. How does it really work? Once again: I’m not complaining, I’m just curious. And to R.Roxy: I don’t have a problem with it, I’m just… curious.

Fuck off, mate, I am not complaining at all!

As to other replies: the bottled beer was just an example to point out the difference between clubs! Just one tiny example… I mean, Vera can be considered as a real “club” like Melkweg or Tivoli, and the Oosterpoort really is nothing more than a conference-center, like a small RAI (Amsterdam)…

I was only wandering why Therapy? play the same venue three times in the same city when there’s another great place over there as well, and like I said the last time in Oosterpoort the place wasn’t exactly packed! Even in Amsterdam they play Paradiso and the Melkweg, so why should that be called complaining? After two times Oosterpoort I would love to see them play in Vera - and I’m sure people from the north will agree. Remember the gig in Doornroosje, Nijmegen? One of the best gigs I’ve ever been to, and from stories I hear about Vera you have the same kinda feel over there. Oosterpoort is too businesslike, if you ask me, and everyone can disagree or agree. Like I said in the original post: I’ve never been to Vera, and it would be one hell of a good reason to go there if Therapy? plays there. That’s one of the reasons why I like to travel to T?-gigs actually! If it wasn’t for them, I would have never been (yet) to Nighttown, Paard van Troje, Tivoli, Doornroosje, and also Oosterpoort… that Ten Yean Plan-show over there was amazing! So who’s complaining here, mate?

One more thing: I live in Amsterdam, saw Therapy? twice in the Oosterpoort, so I’m not happy that play in the neighbourhood cause I’m more than happy to travel all the way to Groningen!

Re: Therapy? to Groningen in Therapy? Live

Title: Why o why?

I never thought of this and suddenly it hits me: why o why are Therapy? playing in the Oosterpoort once again, instead of Vera (for the uninformed: also in Groningen)???

I mean, Vera is often described as one of the best clubs in The Netherlands, especially for rock-concerts with the audience drinking beer in bottles instead of those annoying plastic cups (just a small example)… well, I’ve never been there - maybe somebody who has can tell more about Vera, it’s got quite a reputation, y’know.

Anyway, is this a case of people @ Oosterpoort booking Therapy? or maybe Therapy? specificly wants to play there again (which I can imagine after the Ten Year Plan-show, but the opening show of the Scopophobia-tour was, was, well, it seemed that not only the band had to get started… and I doubt the place was even half full!), or are the people @ Vera just sleeping?

Damn, just look at the agenda at the official Vera-site (forgive me for no link) and see that Therapy? really fits in there!

That’s just hilarious… Meat Abstract was on the setlist for the Melkweg show, AND THEY DIDN’T PLAY IT!

They probably just read this post or something…

And by the way: everyone check your I Want My Money Back bootleg-cover and pictures of last nights show. Pretty amazing, huh? I’m talking drummers t-shirts here…

Re: Whatever happened to the Babyteeth-songs? in Therapy? Live

Title: Hey boring old fart!

…and that´s why I also wrote how much I loved Die Like A Motherfucker and Perish The Thought live! My dream setlist would actually be:

POTATO JUNKIE
NOWHERE
DIE LAUGHING
SCREAMAGER
RISE UP
DIE LIKE A MOTHERFUCKER
PERISH THE THOUGHT
HERE BE MONSTERS
SO CALLED LIFE
PANIC
POLAR BEAR
ROCK YOU MONKEYS
DEAD
LONG DISTANCE
THIS SHIP IS SINKING
SERVE THE SERMON
LAST ONE TO HEAVEN´S A LOSER
IF IT KILLS ME
RUST

NAUSEA
MEAT ABSTRACT
INNOCENT X
TEETHGRINDER
KNIVES

And change the 5-song every night, with songs like Turn, Loser Cop, Animal Bones, Femtex, Trigger Inside on and on and on… How´s that for a set?

Re: Whatever happened to the Babyteeth-songs? in Therapy? Live

That´s what I´m thinking: the reception certain songs get. I´m almost certain that´s the main reason… I still think they should´ve kept Innocent X!

But then again: does a song like Epilepsy go down better with audiences than Innocent X? Just because a lot more people have Infernal Love? And talking about reception: I kinda had the feeling that Sister cooled things down a bit yesterday… and I always hate that “measuring time in spoons” bit at the end.

Whatever happened to the Babyteeth-songs? in Therapy? Live

Title: Whatever happened to the Babyteeth-songs?

What can possibly be the reason? Not even Innocent X in Tilburg? And the reason why I´m making a new thread about this, is the fact that those songs were not played for a few shows already… why oh WHY?

I mean, it´s always nice to see that they can play Stories without the cello, but we´ve heard that song already a million in the Benelux, right?

In a world without internet, bands could play the same setlist over and over again and surprise audiences everywhere with the same unexpected treasure in the encore every night, because nobody knew what to expect. BUT thanx to the internet (and to these messageboards in perticular) we get spoilers all the time, one hour after most shows some nuthead already posted the setlist. And admit it: it´s hard not to peak.

So here´s what I suspect Therapy? might have thought (and forgive me my sarcasm): Okay, so we´re gonna do Loser Cop and Innocent X on our next tour. Wait a minute, since we played Dancin´ With Manson (and also Skyward and Punishment Kiss) on our last tour with Neil on drums, that means if we play the most unexpected gem (Animal Bones) we have played the whole of Babyteeth live. We´ll even throw in Meat Abstract a few more times, because we like it so much. And this is what we´ll do next: everybody will think that Innocent X is a regular in the set, and that we´ll play another Babyteeth cut during the encore, and then after a few days we will stop playing them! And on top of that: Long Distance seems to be the majority´s favorite of our last album (and our best fans are not happy with only Babyteeth, they´re the only ones that wanna hear our new stuff), so let´s not play that song in Tilburg, also! It´s gonna be hilarious, we´ll do Stories and Turn, and then some wanker on the Wall Of Mouths will start complaining about it! Great! It´s alway nice to see someone wining about his favorite band…

Okay, I could have told the above in two lines: When I got home yesterday after Tilburg, I had the feeling I went all the way to a Chelsea game where Kezman and Robben didn´t play! Isn´t Andy a Chelsea fan? Somebody tell him this, I know that our favorite band aren´t robots and that they have to please themselves also, but dropping all of Babyteeth is just outrageous…

I can go on and on about T?´s setlist-policy… but let´s end on a positive not: damn, those live versions of Die Like A Motherfucker and especially Perish The Thought are absolutely brilliant! And Isolation couldn´t have been better…

it really was a great show, but without Babyteeth songs you just know that a lot of people will be dissapointed (don´t deny it),

Re: Tour in April in Therapy? Live

Everybody seems to be talking about Therapy? supporting The Wildhearts but since there’s a third band playing, you may very well call this a double-bill, right?

Chances are that both Wildhearts and T? will play a FULL set with the third band being the support act…

Re: Tour Poll - Part 2 in Therapy? Live

Title: Faith of Femtex in poll…

I think we can easily assume that just like Unbeliever and Hellbelly on recent tours the unlucky number 5 in the tour-poll will become the next Troublegum song to be the second song in the set on a future tour.

But hey, not on this tour (respect to the poll!), but wouldn’t it just be the greatest surprise if they rehearse other songs from the shortlist anyway just to amaze the fuck out of us? And probably the loudest and most adrenalized time ever that thousand people will all happily declare that masturbation saved their lives (because NOBODY expects them to play that tune!)

I mean, apart from the top4 it gives a pretty good indication of what fans wanna hear, right?

Setlists: Stones vs Therapy? in Therapy? Live

Title: Setlists: Stones vs Therapy?

Therapy? doing (almost) the exact same set every date of this tour???

You guyz wanna know why the Forty Licks-tour is the most exciting tour the Stones are doing in decennia??? They change the setlist regularly, and they don’t need polls to make ‘em play obscure songs!!!

Therapy? don’t seem to give a shit anymore for fans who go to see them a lot on one tour, by giving them the same set every night! Mr McKeegan once said to me (when I asked him why their set was so short in 1998) that they are not robots, they’re actually humans, well they’re robots to me!!!

After NOT reading this thread first I voted for:

Nausea
Tigthrope Walker (…)
Innocent X

and then I read these replies and maybe I should have voted for:

Dancin’ With Manson
Kiss Me On The Ghost Train (!!!)
Trigger Inside

Re: The perfect festival line-up in Therapy? Live

1 stage, 5 bands, that’s it:

19.00 - 20.00 THE STROKES
20.30 - 21.45 THERAPY?
22.00 - 23.30 BAD RELIGION
00.00 - 03.30 GEORGE CLINTON & THE P-FUNK ALL STARS
04.00 - 06.00 NEW ORDER

Only a couple of prolems, The Strokes haven’t got enough material to play one hour, New Order never hit the stage that long anymore and George Clinton’s not gonna stop after only three and a half hours. What a line up, if I can dream, damn I hate this thread,

Roskilde? Rammstein and The Peppers are also playing, with rumours of New Order making an appearance as well. Oh no, that would be too damn perfect, and Bob Dylan might as well play Roskilde again this year.

Re: Openingsong? in Therapy? Live

They’ll probably gonna open every show with ‘Gimme Back My Brain’, but I think ‘Joey’ would be the ultimate opener. At the start of the show all the lights go out and then you hear: ‘Gentlemen, start your actions…’ (or somethinh like that). When the song starts the light flashes a couple of times and when Andy starts to sing you can finally see how many line-up changes there’ve been…

Cheers,

They played Brussels (VK) in February 1993, but not in The Netherlands to my knowledge.
