Re: What’s EveryOne Listening To in Other Bands & Artists

I haven’t. Actually, for a Pavement fan I’ve heard very little of Stephen Malkmus’ stuff.
Recommendations?

Adam Green is good. See him live if you can.
Moldy Peaches? Know nothing about their music.

Great clip. I’m all excited about the concert now!

Pavement - Wowee Zowee: Sordid Sentinels Edition
Pavement - Slanted & Enchanted: Luxe & Reduxe
Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain: LA’s Desert Origins
Carlsberg don’t do album re-issues, but if they did, they’d probably be the Pavement re-issues!

Re: Metallica in Other Bands & Artists
St. Anger may well have been their ‘Be Here Now’. You won’t realise the effect it’s had on their sales until the following album. Having said that, metal and rock fans tend to be a bit more loyal than indie fans.

Got my tickets for 26-04-08 in Barcelona.

I’ve seen James Hetfield sober. Unfortunately the best a sober Hetfield can come up with is St. Anger.

Re: Metallica in Other Bands & Artists
You’re damn right! Damage Inc. is the album I like.
S&M is okay, but nothing special.
New album will be influenced by where they are now and their 80’s stuff. The new song goes Hit the lights, I’m trying to read the property section

Re: Metallica in Other Bands & Artists
Put on St. Anger about 2 weeks ago because I’d just watched ‘Some Kind Of Monster’ and the riffs they use as incidental music in the movie always sound good. Alas, the album’s still shite.
S&M, even though it’s a covers album, is great.
I like Load and ReLoad, in an over indulgent, Use Your Illusion kind of way.
The new album? Well, I certainly won’t be buying it on the day it comes out. In fact, it’s unlikely I’ll be buying it the year it comes out.

Gutter Twins - Saturnalia. As mentioned above it’s a grower, but in the best sense.
Mark Lanegan - Bubblegum
Richard Cheese - The Sunny Side Of The Moon

Re: The Killers in Other Bands & Artists
Much prefer Sam’s Town to Hot Fuss. I tend to be in the minority about that though, just think it’s a more cohesive album.

Re: Bands that I hate!!! in Other Bands & Artists
I remember going to see Therapy? in Mcgonagles in Dublin and then, the next thing you know, following the release of Babyteeth their entire audience had changed and I didn’t like it. But that’s me, I’m an eleitist pig and begrudge anyone the right to ‘sellout’.
I jest, of course. Do agree with comment about the Manics though. Had a very similar experience as Dennis. Met some people at a Manics gig on that tour, people who I know for a fact own at least one Boyzone cd.
BTW, I hate Boyzone.

Agreed and agreed. Tokyo Hotel have spread to Spain too. Never thought that is was possible to have a watered down version of The Rasmus, how wrong I was.
Craig David is just a pillock. His music sucks and in interview it’s like listening to a braindead teenager (no offense teenagers who post on this board), only now he’s going bald and has a little potbelly.

£50?! I hate how expensive gigs are these days.
Alas, Ireland is probably the most expensive place in Europe to see a gig. The main promoter here is MCD and they basically have a monopoly. I live in Spain and got my QOTSA ticket here for €23. In Dublin I believe it costs €45. Total rip off.
Back on topic, haven’t heard the new album, but have been listening to Radiohead a lot lately, so will pick up a copy in the next few days.

Band of Horses - Cease to Begin
The National - Boxer
Any Given Sunday
The Man Who Wasn’t There
Mallrats on Region 2 DVD. I’ve got the excellent Region 1 version but when my folks kindly bought us a replacement DVD player they didn’t get the concept of a multi region player.
