Re: 3 Colours Red on Radio 6 in Other Bands & Artists

Is that Joe_S, btw? I’m The Evil One over at 3coloursred.co.uk. Sucks that the board’s been down for ages!

Yeah, I wasn’t too hot on FCKU either, though I do have the t-shirt. Gotta be honest, I hope it only ends up as a b-side. I loved Land Of Debris though!

Re: Irish referances in General Therapy? Topics

Dermot wrote:

The song Tango Romeo has a couple of N Irish refs, ‘Try to avoid being R-U-Seen’ (the RUC was the name of the police over here until recently)

Yeah, that’s probably right, cos in the Shameless lyrics it says ‘try to avoid being R.U.Ceen’, too much of a coincidence not to be!

When they played it in Manc on the Shameless tour, I seem to remember that Andy blasted the Manchester police, but I could be wrong? Anyone know of any specific grievances?

Re: great lost bands of the 90s in Other Bands & Artists

Hmm…

How about co.uk (might be 2000)?
Or The Driven?
Pulkas (I know they split, but what happened then?)
Dearly Beheaded (heard about Sleath, but…)?
Crazy Gods of Endless Noise (actually, not too bothered about these guys!)

There’s loads more too…

Re: Audience on scopophobia in Therapy? Live

Was The Astoria anything approaching full? Cos it’s quite a bit bigger than the LA2/meanfiddler!

53 without help! Not bad for a 20-year-old!

Re: Body Bag Girl…is shit. in General Therapy? Topics

I don’t mind it, it’s not their greatest or worst song. It’s a bit Gary Glitter, which is both good and bad. Though I do find when ‘pop’ people look at the back of records and see a track with a name like that, it puts them right off - like ‘Kill The Old, Torture Their Young’ off the first Biffy Clyro album.

Re: iF IT KILLS ME TOPS THE OUTLAW 141! in General Therapy? Topics

Nah, it was, but at about 1.30 in the morning on the Radio 1 Rock Show on the week of release. Still, some bands don’t even get that…

Re: machester punk rock in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Hey,

I’m a bassist at Manchester uni, but I’m on my year abroad at the mo (dammit!), so I’d only be free during holidays (xmas, Feb, easter) and permanently from July…

Re: Worst CD you wish you still owned in Other Bands & Artists

Curtis Stigers? That was the dude who played those cheesy sax solos in his songs, wasn’t it…?

Re: Opeth? in Other Bands & Artists

Fucking amazing band! “And that’s all I have to say about that”, as Forrest Gump would say.

The first two Skunk Anansie albums, to my now ex-girlfriend. D’oh!

Re: Bands that get gradually worse in Other Bands & Artists

Dunno, Sgt Pepper’s amazing, and the White Album’s good if you persevere, just like Radiohead’s recent ones, although I’d love to have an album with a few non-bleep tracks. And I spose at the age of 20, I’m in no position to judge the beatles, but I think that Abbey Road was amazing, especially the second side. But the production on Let It Be just annoys me. And Paul McCartney’s post-Beatles stuff is fucking awful with few exceptions, imho!

I think that Rage’s Battle Of Los Angeles is really good, it’s improved with age, cos at the time I thought it was alright, but not amazing. And Renegades is really good too.

Green Day have really gone off the boil imho. I thought Nimrod was amazing, but Warning, despite improving with repeated listening (again), had too many duffers on it to be classed as anything better than average.

And to add to that list, what about Pearl Jam? Or AIC, although that one’s pretty explainable  I guess, and the eponymous one’s… interesting…

Re: **Refused - The Shape of Punk to Come** in Other Bands & Artists

Yeah, it is great. I read that the reason they split up was because they’d achieved what they’d set out to do - which is pretty cool if you ask me!

Re: Oceansize in Other Bands & Artists

I’ve got the album and really like it, but don’t buy it if you like your songs concise… :D

Re: Earthtone9 in Other Bands & Artists

Nahnahnahnah! I have to disagree, arctangent (can’t be arsed with all the apostrophes etc) is the best by far in my opinion! Though the others are good. And if you can find it cheap, pick up ‘Omega’, it’s an interesting insight into where they might’ve gone…

Re: I think they’ve gone insane in Chit-Chat

That’s ridiculous! Isn’t it something ridiculous like 20% that have AIDS in South Africa, it’s something scary anyway! And aren’t we facing a population crisis anyway…?

Yeah, it’s quite funny having Blaze Bayley and Richey James in the same interview! Interesting, very interesting… :D

Re: o hurrah in Chit-Chat

NW England, about an hour north of Manchester.

I always wondered the same thing about me, I concluded that it was because I resembled the Elephant Man in everything but name! But thankfully this year I’m starting to redress the balance… ;)

Re: o hurrah in Chit-Chat

I heard that Lancaster had the highest suicide rate of any uni in the UK, from Lancaster students as well! Something to do with all the concrete, I heard. And I’ve seen it, it’s very concretey.

Re: Guest appearances in General Therapy? Topics

Martin and Kimberlee are on the Oceansize album that just came out as well…

Posted on Thu, 2 October 2003 at 16:31

Re: Guest appearances in General Therapy? Topics

Martin (with Kimberlee) plays cello on the new Biffy Clyro album ‘The Vertigo of Bliss’, on ‘Bodies In Flight’, ‘With Aplomb’ and ‘Now The Action Is On Fire!’. Not bad going, considering the whole album was recorded in a day!

Re: Confirmed British Tour Dates 2003 in Therapy? Live

Where are the French dates?

I know they’re not all that popular over here, but I’m doing my year abroad in Lyon for my degree, and if they can make it over here, I’ll personally make sure that the same amount of merch is bought by the crowd as would be in the UK.

And it’s good to see that they’re playing the Astoria again, rather than the LA2 (sorry, Mean Fiddler). Does that mean there’s been a bit of a resurgence in popularity, or is that just wishful thinking?
