Re: I’m A Celebrity… in Chit-Chat

once again i am totally transfixed by it

so jordan and johnny rotten are favourites to win - so i am tempted to place bets on alex best and peter andre to win, as i think thay are probably the most likely outsiders to win!

watching johnny is very funny especially how he seems to look at the jungle animals with the same amazement that a 3 year old would!

any ideas who’ll really win? or at least make it to the top 3?

Re: Therapy? should be bigger than Foo Fighters in General Therapy? Topics

all i was trying to say is i miss seeing Therapy? on Top Of The Pops.

Forget comparing Therapy? to other bands. There’s no point.

I can still clearly remember seeing Therapy? play ‘Screamager’ on Top Of The Pops. It was very cool. It was one of the first tracks to turn me from pop to rock.

Also can remember them playing ‘Loose’ on Top Of The Pops.

And I am sure they featured on the pages of Smash Hits, as did Nirvana. Guess it was just part of the game.

Also would be great to see Therapy? playing bigger venues. I always think of Therapy? playing Brixton Academy! Awesome!

Therapy? should be bigger than Foo Fighters in General Therapy? Topics

Title: Therapy? should be bigger than Foo Fighters

My copy of Scopophobia finally arrived last week, and so i’ve been thinking about Therapy? alot this week!

I think that Therapy? should be bigger than the Foo Fighters. I was a huge Therapy? and Nirvana fan back in 1992. Troublegum was awesome, and then the first Foo Fighters album was amazing too. Even though both bands haven’t produced better albums than those, the Foo Fighters are now writing macho-cock-rock arena-rock, where-as Therapy? are still sticking to their roots, which may be to their detrament.

I feel quite let down by the governors of grunge ie Dave Grohl and Courtney Love. It seems that Andy Cairns goo nature and loyalty to the music has held Therapy? back from being mainstream chart toppers. Now I know that most chart toppers are bland, manufactured shit. But it would be great to see Therapy? playing Top Of The Pops again and bombarding the charts with great rock tunes.

Any thoughts?

Re: Therapy? live in Therapy? Live

i can remember darkstar playing either ‘top of the pops’ or TFI friday with barbed wire wrapped around the microphone. i remember i really liked the song.

can anyone remember what their main single was, or what the song may have been that i’m thinking of.

Re: Any band? in Chit-Chat

Nirvana … was so very close - had tickets to see them on the last European tour in 94, but …

even though i wasn’t alive, i would have liked to have seen artists and bands from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’ such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. Would be interesting to see what they were like live, and if they lived up to the rose-tinted memories of fans at the time.

guess it would have been cool to have seen Mozart on tour. I wonder how many night’s he could sell-out at London Arena???

the brilliance of ‘Infernal Love’ in General Therapy? Topics

Title: the brilliance of ‘Infernal Love’

I have been listening to ‘Infernal Love’ quite a lot this year, especially over the past few days. I remember being quite put off the album at the time because of the stupid moustaches and suits that Therapy? wore.

It’s amazing that you can forget how great an album is over time. ‘Infernal Love’ really is an amazing album. The singles were all great. My favourite tracks are ‘Bad Mother’ and ‘Me vs You’. I also love the intro to ‘Moment of Clarity’.

I definitely think ‘Infernal Love’ out-shines most albums that get released now. Or am I deluded?

Re: Does anyone else think Matrix is overrated? in Chit-Chat

i didn’t enjoy the first matrix film so am not that bothered about seeing reloaded. however, i watched the first matrix film again the other day, and i would have to agree with dano. if i knew how to, i would love to edit the matrix so that keanu reeves acts like bill and ted, and says ‘no way’, ‘excellent’, ‘bogus’ etc … that would make me smile!

Re: favourite band from your country? in Other Bands & Artists

Re: Album Chart in General Therapy? Topics

there are a lot of bands that manage to make a living from being in a non-top-40 band. A lot of the punk and ska bands seem to do well. The Wildhearts are still going, which really surprises me. Even though not a big fan of theirs, it’s great to see they are still releasing singles, and even have a new video on mtv2.

thinking about the current state of the music industry ties my head in knots. it’s no longer a case of distributing great music, they instead seem to churn out manufactured pop for the masses.

when i saw Therapy? play recently, I got the impression that they are bitter that they no longer have chart success. surely that doesn’t matter as long as they still enjoy writing and playing great tunes?

Re: does anybody really wants to hear the singles? in Therapy? Live

i don’t understand why people are moaning about the set-lists. when i go to a gig, it’s because i love the band. there are a number of bands that i’ve seen dozens of times, but i don’t expect them to play a particular setlist purely for my benefit. fair enough, variation is the spice of life, but i’m sure bands have enough to worry about, without fans moaning about the setlists.

surely the band should play what they want to play, that way they are more likely to play with more passion and enthusiasm.

Trigger Inside video in General Therapy? Topics

Title: Trigger Inside video

With all the talk about the potential new Therapy? DVD, i’ve been thinking about all the Therapy? footage i’ve come across.

I have a video of the Trigger Inside video, which was Therapy? playing in an Amercian style garage / warehouse, interspersed with footage zooming in and out of shots of various people in the streets.

But… a friend of mine also had a Trigger Inside video which was different to mine. It was of a rather worn out looking old man, waking up on a bed, and then running and running and running.

Does anybody remember either of these? why there were two videos? and if there were any other versions of the video?

curious, as always

Re: Foo Fighters DVD in Other Bands & Artists

i agree with Kill Hill. I loved the Foo Fighters back when they started. With each year that has pasted since then, they seem to be less about the music, and more about being a macho cock-rock band. And what is it with Jack Black and the Foos?

Re: Rock music in adverts in Chit-Chat

moby is king whore when it comes to having his songs in tv ads.

was cool to hear ‘placebo’s’ ‘pure morning’ for a car ad a couple of years back!

Re: Therapy? London gig in Therapy? Live

Seeing Therapy? at the LA2 was great. strange venue. cool to be up close, but the stepped platform was very annoying.

i got there at 9.30, as Therapy? were playing ‘hey satan .. you rock’, hoping that was the set opener! the set went by sooo quickly. twas a shame that some of the classics didn’t get played, but i enjoyed the mix of new and old. i loved the encore. i had had ‘the knives’ in my head all day, so was great to go crazy to it at the end.

went to the crowbar afterwards, but sadly didn’t see any WOMs there. we then sneaked back into the LA2, met Andy, Michael and Seymour from Miss Black America .. oh and also a lady with two cool therapy tattoos. i was quite drunk and didn’t stop going on about the Therapy? DVD to Andy and Michael.

a very cool night

Re: Galsgow for the fat bastards… in Therapy? Live

from the london gig they also played ‘potato junkie’. the encore was: ‘rust’, ‘the knives’ and finishing with ‘screamager’

Re: Therapy? London gig in Therapy? Live

really looking forward to tonight’s gig!! :D

i am meeting some friends before the gig for a few beers, and no doubt we’ll end up in the ‘Crowbar’ after the gig. if anyone wants to say hi from here that’ll be cool - i’ll probably be wearing a black ‘my vitriol’ t-shirt

Re: Miss Black America setlist in Therapy? Live

funnily enough, i’ve got to catch a train from Plymouth at midday-ish and then i’m meeting up with some old school friends for beers before the gig … hmmm … fingers crossed that it all goes to plan

last time i tried to see Therapy?, the gig (Brixton Academy probably 95 or 96) was cancelled, and then I foolishly returned my ticket

tssskkk

i’ve heard a lot of good things about MBA, so i’m going to make an effort to see the support bands this gig

Miss Black America setlist in Therapy? Live

Title: Miss Black America setlist

does anyone know what songs Miss Black America have been playing on their Therapy? support slot?

I don’t know much by Miss Black America, although I downloaded the MP3s off their website the other day, and wondered if they played any of those.

thanku

Re: NIRVANA overrated?! in Other Bands & Artists

nirvana … over-rated? … maybe, but so what?

the press have a habit of hyping, unduly slating, skewing, mis-informing, exagerating etc

‘heart-shaped-box’ is my favourite songs ever. it means something to me. i don’t care if half of nirvana’s songs were rip-offs, it didn’t stop me from enjoying them!

i would much rather be buying and listening to Nirvana and Therapy? albums, than a majority of the synthetic pop music that is being fed to the masses

on the subject of rip offs, most bands are heavily influenced by other bands, and it doesn’t take much listening to realise that.

surely it’s more important that a band are passionate about what they do, reflect that in their performance, and that they produce something that is entertaining and meaningful to someone?

Gemma Hayes in Other Bands & Artists

Title: Gemma Hayes

I am interested to see what people think of Gemma Hayes. She is also from Ireland, and Graham Hopkins (ex-Therapy?) up until very recently played drums for her.

Therapy? London gig in Therapy? Live

Title: Therapy? London gig

no-ones mentioned going to the London gig!

it’s a shame, the LA2 seems a criminally small venue for such a great band, most of the bands i’ve seen playing the LA2 recently were worthy of much larger venues, although it should make for a great atmosphere.

Re: Any Joy Division/New Order fans here? in Other Bands & Artists

i watched ‘donnie darko’ over the weekend. i thought it was a very cool film, and it seemed to have a good soundtrack. they played joy division ‘love will tear us apart’, and a track which i now love ‘mad world’ by tears for fears.
i haven’t heard much by joy division, but a lot of people talk very highly of them. also there have been some great songs by new order, although i find it hard to admit that they might be a good band

are there any tracks by either band that are worth listening to?

Re: what other bands/music do you listen to? in Other Bands & Artists

Therapy?, Suede and Nirvana were the first few bands that introduced me to rock, and these lot followed…

nine inch nails - ‘the fragile’ is amazing
nirvana
radiohead
therapy?
my vitriol - ‘finelines’ was great
music of the sphere by ian brown is truly awesome
foo fighters - their debut album rocked
hole - ‘live through this’ rocks
gemma hayes - great songs from this lil’ irish lady
smashing pumpkins - ‘machina’ was grosly under-rated
oasis
marilyn manson
deftones
jeff buckley
coldplay
david bowie
ruby
queen adreena

Re: Take your digital camera with you… in Therapy? Live

i’d love to take my digicam along to therapy? when i see them play in the next few days, but i can’t help feeling that the big bad door-men are going to take it away from me, and i’ll never see it again

Miss Black America in Other Bands & Artists

Title: Miss Black America

in a few days time i am going to see Therapy? at the LA2 in London. Miss Black America are one of the support bands. a friend of mine has been raving about them for some time. i have heard one song by them, which seemed pretty cool. does anyone know much about them? or has anyone seen them play live recently?

very curious, thanks

CD Video in Other Bands & Artists

Title: CD Video

i watched donnie darko tonight, and my mind is now ticking over. there were some great songs during the film. i really like ‘mad world’. anyway it then got me thinking about a lot of music, and about a lot of bands. and quite some time later, i picked up a cd single i have by INXS. it’s a CD video. i have never been able to play the video track. does anyone know anything about CD Videos (CDV)? i don’t see why i shouldn’t be able to play it on a DVD player, or on a PC

Re: the DVD-matter…! in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade

i still think a double DVD in the style of ‘So Much for the Ten Year Plan’ would be great. disc one live. disc two promos. i would happily pay £20 for that!

i shall keep dreaming

Re: the DVD-matter…! in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade

Title: Therapy DVD

if Therapy? were to press an official music DVD, I guess they could easily sell 1000 copies, and it probably wouldn’t be hard to sell 2000+ copies worldwide.

the main cost in producing a music DVD is editing and production. if Therapy? were to transfer pre-edited footage, such as the Brixton gig from ages ago, that would mean the main cost would be paying a DVD production company to stitch it all together.

it probably wouldn’t be economical to distribue a DVD such as this through high-street chains, but it could be economical as a fan-club purchase

it would be great if there was a massive Therapy? resurgence, with an interest similar to that back in the early 90’s - then it would be worth while (from a commercial point of view) releasing a Therapy? best-of DVD

sadly it’s more likely that the best of Therapy? DVD will only end up as a bootleg
