Re: One Cure Cover in General Therapy? Topics

I do like the cover but don’t like where they positioned the album title. I like what turnandface did with it.

Huh, so thats what a zombie Marylin Monroe cross-dresser looks like. I can now sleep easy.

Re: Will ‘One Cure Fits All’ make it to our American shores in General Therapy? Topics

Fuck it, I bought NANE as an import, and will do so with OCFA and all future T? albums if I have to. Sure I’m dissapointed that Spitfire or any other label won’t put out thier albums here in the States, but I’m not about to go with-out new music from these guys. Not too many of my favorite bands are around anymore, and am very grateful to the ones that are (the new Mudhoney and Revolting Cocks albums are great). So to Andy, Mike, and Neill, keep making your special brand of rock and I’ll gladly roll some cash your way.

Name For My B-side Comp. in General Therapy? Topics

Title: Name For My B-side Comp.

So a friend of mine finally burned a b-side comp. for me and I’m wondering what to call it. I’ve come up with two selections:

AUTOPSY-TURVY
DISFIGURE OF SPEECH

When you guys are done groaning, rolling your eyes, or laughing;), tell me what you think. I’m leaning toward AUTOPSY-TURVY myself.

Other bands B-sides in Other Bands & Artists

Title: Other bands B-sides

The T? b-sides thread got me thinking of other bands b-sides & rarities. Here’s a few I like.

SOUNDGARDEN
She Likes Surprises: on the SONGS FROM THE SUPERUNKNOWN E.P. & import editions of SUPERUNKNOWN
Kyle Petty, Son of Richard: on the FELL ON BLACK DAYS single
Exit Stonehenge: SPOONMAN single
Birth Ritual: SINGLES soundtrack
Kareoke: I have this on an Australian tour edition of DOWN ON THE UPSIDE
Bleed Together: Originaly on the BURDEN IN MY HAND single, then added to the A-SIDES best of.
Kim Thayil was supposed to make an official b-sides compilation, I don’t know what happened to this. I burned one together at a friends house & called it EXIT STONEHENGE.

HELMET
Pariah: Vynil edition of BETTY
Complete: JOHNNY MNEMONIC soundtrack ( probably the only good thing to come out that film).
Disagreeable: FEELING MINESOTTA soundtrack, added to the UNSUNG: BEST OF COMP.

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS
Lets Make Evil: MY FRIENDS single
How Strong: OTHERSIDE single & MUSIC FOR OUR MOTHER OCEAN 3 comp.
Gong Li: SCAR TISSUE single.

THE MELVINS
Instant Larry: DEMON KNIGHT soundtrack ( I think this is a STONER WITCH out-take).

MINISTRY
Tonight, We Murder: DEMON KNIGHT soundtrack
Fucked: N.W.O. single
T.V. III: THE FALL/RELOAD single.
Happy Dust: BAD BLOOD single.
What About Us?: GREATEST FITS comp.

KID’S STUFF

And HELL, YEA, they need to make a B-Sides album! Believe me, I have no problem with having to order it from the UK.

Re: Land Of The Dead in Chit-Chat

Well, it’s Saturday, 6:33 P.M. as I type this, and I’m still happy as hell about yesterday. I’ve finally seen a new Romero zombie movie(and in a theater, no-less), and I cant wait to go back. So here is my quick, little review:
LAND OF THE DEAD is one HELL of a good time. We get zombies, and plenty of them, as well as some compelling main characters, a hallmark of Romero’s films. Romero also up’s the scare factor by introducing a new concept: smart zombies. Now, their not doing math problems or yacking about politics or nothing, but, under the leadership of one particular zombie called Big Daddy, they band together and slowly make thier way to Fiddler’s Green, a walled in city were many people try to lead regular lives despite the fact that theres a whole world of zombies just outside. And once the “stenches”(as the zombies are referred to a few times)get to the city, its one of the scariest sights I’ve seen, ever.
Acting-wise, I have no complaints. Simon Baker does a good job as Riley, the some-what hero of our story who dreams of a world of no-walled-in cities or zombies. John Leguizamo is great as Cholo, Rileys right-hand man who has ambitions of his own, and will go to any lengths to achieve them. Robert Joy, who played the killer in Russell Mulcahy’s thriller RESSURECTION, is great as the slow-witted but eagle-eyed Charlie, who is extremely loyal to Riley.
Asia Argento rocks, although I wish she had more to do, and Dennis Hopper was great as Kuafman, who rules over Fiddler’s Green with an iron fist. Lastly, Eugene Clark is wonderful as Big Daddy, a role that could have been cheesy in the wrong hands.
Effects-wise, all the zombie make-up is awesome, and the gore effects that made it into the film is kick-ass, although this film is not as gory as the original DAWN OF THE DEAD or DAY OF THE DEAD. About six minutes of stuff was cut out to get an R-rating and will be put back for the DVD.
Most of it will be gore effects.
Now, the film is’nt perfect and I do wish it was longer(it’s around 90 min.), but it is still a HELL of lot better than sitting through most of the crappy horror flicks that have been released lately(CURSED, HOUSE OF THE DEAD, ect.).
And the fact that Romero has finally made a new zombie feature overshadows the very few complaints I have. I’m not sure where I would place it in the Living Dead series, but repeated viewings will help that decision.
I think I could handle that.:D

Re: Land Of The Dead in Chit-Chat

In a couple of hours, I will be in a theater watching a George A. Romero zombie flick. I swear to God part of me still can’t believe this is happening. I’ll put up a review for it here later today or tomorrow morning. And if I find out when it’s gonna be released over in Europe, I’ll let you know.

Title: Land Of The Dead

George A. Romero is finally returning to the big screen June 24th with a new Living Dead film! As many times as I’ve seen the trailer I still can’t quite believe it. Can’t wait, can’t wait, CAN’T WAIT!!

Sorry not sure when it will be making it’s way to your side of the Atlantic, hopefully soon.

Re: Verdict on Never Apologise Never Explain in General Therapy? Topics

I had to order this album from the U.K., just like Semi-detached. Each came out to around $30.00.

Both kicked my ass after just one listen.

NANE is just amazing, a sleek, super-sonic missile of rock.
FAve tracks: RISE UP, PERISH THE THOUGHT, SO-CALLED LIFE, LONG DISTANCE, ROCK YOU MONKEYS(gotta get that shirt),LAST ONE TO HEAVENS A LOSER.

If I have to keep ordering T? albums from overseas I’ll do it. After all, what am I gonna do, NOT ORDER ‘EM? fuck that.

Re: Sin City in Chit-Chat

It really sucks you guys get these movies so late(it came out April 1 here). If you like the comix, you’re gonna SHIT over the film, Rodriguiz & Miller did an awesome job of bringing them to life. All the actors brought the characters to life just beutifally. There are reports that a SIN CITY 2 may already be filming, with Dwights origin story A DAME TO KILL FOR in this collection.

Re: New Helmet In September!! in Other Bands & Artists

SIZE MATTERS and the tour got pushed back to October, Page broke his collar-bone mountain-biking. Album out October 5th.

First this, now no new Therapy? here in the U.S. So much for my “best-September-ever” prediction.

Crap, did I jinx it?!

Re: Listen to 3 songs from NANE in General Therapy? Topics

Just heard the new songs, and they are BAAAAD-AAASSS!!! To me, they come across as the spawn of NURSE & HIGH ANXIETY, and Neill Cooper’s drumming is like the second coming of Fyfe.

Still can’t make out the cover, though.

What’s the U.S. release date for this puppy?

Re: Dillinger escape plan in Other Bands & Artists

Saw these guys back in February for my birthday with the friend who got me into them in the first place, they were nuts. Now I now what happens when you give instruments to a bunch of seizures and throw’em on a stage. The new album(MISS MACHINE) has been out here in the states since July 20th. It’s really kick-ass, IMO, but a couple of songs might turn off older fans as their a little different from the Dillinger norm(Phone Home, Setting Fire To Sleeping Giants, Unretrofied), but I dug’em. The new vocalist, to me,is great ‘cause he’s pretty much the best parts of Dimitri Minakakas and Mike Patton. On a couple of verses of Phone Home, he sounds a helluva lot like Trent Reznor, and on the chorus of Setting Fire To Sleeping Giants he sounds alot like Patton circa THE REAL THING. I got the copy with a DVD, mostly live stuff from all-over, plus a short film of them working( and generally mucking-about) on MISS MACHINE. If you like thier older stuff, I think you’ll like most of this album, just give thier different stuff a shot.

Re: New Helmet In September!! in Other Bands & Artists

I just recently got into these guys. I got DRIVER NOT INCLUDED, ULTRAMAN VS. GODZILLA, PRETEND I’M HUMAN, & TRAGIC. Thier alot better than I thought they would be. And yeah, they called it quits after PRETEND I’M HUMAN. Chaka Malick is in a new band called BURN, with Alan Cage, ex-drummer for Quicksand.
And thanks, Allroy, for popsting the track-list, I did’nt know it had been released yet.

Re: albums in 2004 in Other Bands & Artists

MONSTER MAGNET:MONOLITHIC, BABY!(came out in Europe, but comes out here in the States in March)
CLUTCH:BLAST TYRANT(March)
MINISTRY:HOUSES OF THE MOLE(summer,maybe)
DILLINGER ESCAPE:No official release date or title yet, but one name they were thinking about was THE IDIOTS GUIDE TO JESUS VOL.1: HUNTING & TRAPPING.
HELMET: No tittle or release date for this either, & I still don’t know who else is in the band or if it’s even a done deal. If youv’e bought the Best of, you can use it to listen to a new song called SMART at thier official website. Thing is, I’m pretty sure this was one of the songs Page Hamilton wrote for his solo record. A fansite posted a few of these a couple of years back, so it may be from those sessions, unless it got re-worked by the new line-up(if theres a line-up at all). Frankly, I’m not holding my breath for this one.
FANTOMAS:DELIRIUM DISCORDIA:Out now, but I still havent picked it up(I’m a sinner).
THERAPY?: You can’t believe how happy I am that these guys are already working on new material. Actually, you probably can.

Movie-wise:KILL BILL VOL.2:The first left me with a smile on my face that did’nt leave that whole week & was the best movie of 2003,IMHO.

Re: I’m lookin for Ghandi in Other Bands & Artists

I got to hear THROWING PUNCHES today, it’s on Kaazaa( actually, the whole damn UNDERWORLD soundtrack was on there). It was pretty cool, though it sounds a little different from Helmet, especially Page’s voice’ I almost did’nt recognize him. The Dillinger Escape Plan & Skinny Puppy songs( SP’s song Optimissed is an instrumental) were pretty cool, too. Check’em out.

Re: come and die in General Therapy? Topics

Title: Come And Die (merged)

I finally heard this for the first time a week ago and thought it was decent. As far as rap-rock goes, it’s still better than listening to Limp Bizcuit and thier ilk( but then, so is getting kicked in the nuts). How does everyone else feel about this semi-lost Therapy? tune?

Posted on Mon, 1 September 2003 at 01:39

Re: I’m lookin for Ghandi in Other Bands & Artists

Title: THROWING PUNCHES

Page Hamilton has a song on the upcoming soundtrack to UNDERWORLD called Throwing Punches. This was gonna be on his solo album & was probably gonna be on the GHANDI album. Another ditty I’m looking forward to hearing on this soundtrack is a new one from Dillinger Escape Plan called Baby’s New Coffin ( a friend of mine got me onto this band, I have’nt heard anything this fucked up since I first heard Fantomas).
As for the reunion not happening, it is a damn shame( especially since I never saw them) but it would’nt be the same without Henry & John.

Damn.

Re: Shameless bonus track in General Therapy? Topics

Title: TWO ?’S.

1. Do all copies of SHAMELESS have this video? I remember hearing about it having one, but my copy just played the CD when I chucked it into the PC. And I did’nt see a Enhanced CD symbol anywhere.

2. I know Denim Demon is a cover (TURBONEGRO), but is BIG TIME? It would’nt happen to be that Peter Gabriel tune, is it?

New Type-o Vid in Other Bands & Artists

Title: New Type-o Vid

Has any-one seen the new Type-O-Negative video for I DON’T WANT TO BE ME? It’s got to be one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen, and the song is cool, too. You can see it at the ROADRUNNER RECORDS sight.

Re: The Best band in Other Bands & Artists

MINISTRY
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS
TOOL
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE
CLUTCH
NINE INCH NAILS
Top of my list: THE MELVINS. I’ve seen these crazy fuckers 4 times since LOLLAPALOSA 96, never a dull moment, especially with Dale Crover on the drums.
