Re: How to dismantle an atomic bomb in Other Bands & Artists
Listen to Native Son, it’s the demo for Vertigo and i think it’s a lot better!!! also, xanax and wine is the demo for fast cars…

Re: How to dismantle an atomic bomb in Other Bands & Artists
it instantly grew on me after the second listen…
there are just a couple of songs i like a bit less than the rest, like One Step Closer and Yahweh.
Love And Peace Or Else really stands out, it is quite experimental for U2.
i believe steve lillywhite did a nice job as always, but Brian Eno should have been kept away from the consoles, i hate how he turns raw rock songs into light-rock!
i have some of the demos U2 were working on with Chris Tomas, at the time they were saying this album is going to be pure rock n roll, and they are!!! as bono said, punk rock made in venus!
i hope they get released real soon!
the collector’s edition doesn’t have the lyrics inside, that’s true, but i believe that’s going to be a problem only to people without internet connection.

yes, i meant the sound.
although i must say (as a freak i must defend..!) they didn’t get paid for the iPod thing, they made an agreement with apple to do the commercial and in return itunes will have all the soundboard recordings from the new tour in really low prices for the fans… not that this makes their move less commercial… but…well whatever! :p

Oh, it is a lot better than All That You Can’t Leave Behind. I believe that after a few years it will be up there with their classics, like Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby. I love this band for being 25 years old and still doing real music and not getting commercialized or relaxed like some people accuse them of!

Anyone heard the new U2 album?I’m not a big fan of U2 i’ve just liked some of their singles over the years but the new album is ok.It’s a lot better than REM and Manic Street Preachers new albums.
i have, obviously… :)
well i don’t know what non U2fans might make of the new album, but i, as a U2freak can easily place it amongst my top5 U2 albums. Producers are lame as always, giving a Rock n Roll Band that light-rock sound, but i ‘ve heard the songs performed live and they are true rocking masterpieces IMO..

Re: U2 on TOTP in Other Bands & Artists
this stupid show should be cancelled IMO.
with the fame totp has won over the years, they could sure afford to have their guests performing live.
bands should stop appearing in that show. U2 have been again on totp in the 80s, but then it was prerecorded, not background music. since then they haven’t ever been into their studios again. they did totp again on 2000, but performed on the roof of their hotel, (ofcourse totp aired it with background music again…!)
i hate totp

Re: U2 on TOTP in Other Bands & Artists
U2 didn’t perform on TOTP studios, they performed outside the studios in the BBC Carpark, whoever was there, said U2 played live and there was one take of Vertigo with background music on, which was totp’s fault.
i don’t hear anybody complain about the SNL performance though, where they played 5 songs, where every band just plays 2 songs, 3 at some exceptions… and Bono shouting out “Live, Live, Live!!!!” at the previous performers’ faces, where some were caught lipsynching!

Re: U2 on TOTP in Other Bands & Artists
U2 didn’t mime,
They played over a background track, but just the background track and Bono’s voice were broadcasted on totp show, it’s the stupid show’s policy to use background tracks, the only bad from U2’s side was to accept to be aired from that fuckin’ show.
