Re: Manchester 27/05/06 in Therapy? Live

I’m probably gonna do Manchester myself too and would be interested in any meet up.

Anyone going to be heading that way from the Sheffield area for a bit of company on the train?

Re: Leadmill anyone? in Therapy? Live

The sound was a bit wank at times but it was a great night. The venue seemed a bit emptier than it has been on previous occaisions. I was at the front and I have no bruises at all :( Neck hurts though.

They played a lot of stuff from NANE, as you’d expect. They played quite a lot of the new stuff right at the start though which is why I think the crowd took a while to warm up. Lots of the usual stuff (Die Laughing, Nowhere, Teethgrinder etc). Neil’s drumming was bloody amazing!

Leadmill as usual for me.

Agree with everything said so far about Sheffield and would add that a visit to the Fat Cat pub is also highly recommended. But it is a bit limited on what it has to offer during the day, depending on what you were looking for, and compared to other places. Still, public transport around the area is pretty good.

Glasgow is a fantastic city with loads to do. A trip to the People’s Palace is a must if only to see Billy Conolly’s banana boots. Beers cheap too. Byres Road - excellent place for a pub crawl. Easy to get round the best bits using the underground or trains. And contrary to popular belief a very friendly place.

Worst kept secret ever though. It was all over local message boards for at least a week beforehand!

We got told about it when we bought our tickets for the Rock City gig. The guy was telling everybody.

I’ll be at the Leadmill gig too because my lovely ex-flatmate has got me on the guest list (he’s the bar manager there which means free beer too!).

Re: where in scotland? in Therapy? Live

Why don’t they play the QMU? (er that’s the Queen Margaret Union for those that don’t know - the student union at Glasgow University). I hear that’s turned into quite a good venue again. Beer’s cheap too.

Re: Kerrang Review of London Gig in Therapy? Live

To be honest, I was just amazed that T? even got a mention. IMHO Kerrang is just a rock version of Smash Hits, with it’s constant plugging of whatever the big lables want to push that week and it’s crap writing. Like the interview with Iron Maiden in this week’s issue - two pages of blurb, more than half of which was irrelevant dross with no information content.

Anyway, considering all the rave reviews HA has had, and the good gig reviews, you’d expect there to be more radio/tv/press coverage.

And something good came out of it - it did encourage my niece (who is a fully paid up member of the “MTV generation” and the reason why there is a copy of Kerrang on my coffee table) to pay me a visit and actually listen to some T?

Anyone else see this? It’s in this week’s issue. They gave T? a damn good review (even if it wasn’t very big).

Me too! They might be old but there’s still some damn good tracks pre-Troublegum.

Appreciate the need to keep moving forward, to show off the new stuff and all that. But if you’re going to include old stuff in the set, it’d be nice to hear a few more of the pre-Troublegum tracks every once in a while.

Re: Set Lengths in Therapy? Live

I kind of agree with you about the set length. I was a bit suprised they had two support acts. They could easily have ditched one of them and then played for a bit longer.

However, I’ve noticed that most of the bands I’ve seen recently have only been playing for about 1 hour. It seems that they plan to get the gigs finished by 10.30. With two support acts (which also seems to be the standard these days) that doesn’t really leave a lot of time for any of the bands. And it seemed that there was an awful lot of faffing around by roadies before T? took to the stage.

And although the ticket price wasn’t the most expensive (especially considering you’re paying for 3 bands), it wasn’t exactly the cheapest either.

Re: Irish and U.K. festivals, make your voice heard!! in Therapy? Live

Oh well, never mind! I guess that means voting is over and we should have pulled our fingers out a bit sooner.

Who gives a shit? The gig were great, just enjoy it!

Agreed! They could play three hours straight and there would still be someone complaining that they hadn’t played this track or the other.

Simple fact is the guys put on a damn fine show. You probably all loved it while you were there. Personally, I thought there was a good balance between old and new (even if they didn’t play my personal faves) and it was just brilliant seeing them live again.

Re: Irish and U.K. festivals, make your voice heard!! in Therapy? Live

Oh, and you could also try harassing the peeps at Radio 1 and Kerrang (via their websites - they publish contact emails).

Title: bbc voting

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/events/download.shtml

is the website. If the link doesn’t work, well that’s not my fault :P

Get voting people.

Re: Irish and U.K. festivals, make your voice heard!! in Therapy? Live

Title: Oops

Oh well, just checked the bbc and it was to vote a uk punk band onto the deconstruction stage. But I guess if you all vote anyway they might get the hint :) I mean, their definition of punk probably stops at blink182!

Re: Irish and U.K. festivals, make your voice heard!! in Therapy? Live

Er, wasn’t there some thing on the bbc website for Download that allowed you to vote a band onto the bill at Download???

If it’s still running (not yet checked) then I suggest you get over there and vote! If it’s not, the site may have some contact details of people to harass anyway.

In that case, you were probably standing right next to me! I noticed a person to my right grab the plecs from the stand.

That roadie might have been a moody git, and it may have been completely mental down the front, but it’s been ages since I’ve been to a gig with such a friendly, happy atmosphere. The band were great, the crowd was great - perfect combination. :)

Re: Manchester gig reviews: Start here! in Therapy? Live

Well, i was the short arsed female at the front with the tattoos (celtic armband on one arm, two intertwined dragons on the other). Probably couldn’t see me coz the guy behind kept trying to sit on my head! (Ok, perhaps I’m exagerating a bit, but that’s what it felt like - my neck is definately shorter today).

Re: Manchester gig reviews: Start here! in Therapy? Live

The place was packed. I was right at the front and got very sqaushed (lots of people much taller than me). I’ve got friction burns on my arms and shoulders - that’s how tightly packed we were. :-)

And it was great to see such a wide range of ages.

Only downside when you go to see bands that have released more than 3 albums - they never play all the tracks you really want you hear.

Re: Manchester gig reviews: Start here! in Therapy? Live

Hell yeah! Chuffin’ brilliant!

Can anyone tell me who the main support were? I thought they were pretty good but didn’t manage to get their name.
