Re: SIngle Wombles Thread in Chit-Chat

Hmm, looks like I’ll be joing the singles club then. Got back from China on Monday to find my bloke had packed up all his things and fucked off. Took the bloody RAM out of my computer with him too so I couldn’t even log on. My mobile phone had died while I was away so I was left with no means of contacting any of my friends. Fucking sucks.

So now I’ve drunk too much whiskey and thinking fuck him. There’s loads more guys out there. Just coz he’s a prick doesn’t mean they’re all like that does it?

Re: Leadmill anyone? in Therapy? Live

The sound was a bit wank at times but it was a great night. The venue seemed a bit emptier than it has been on previous occaisions. I was at the front and I have no bruises at all :( Neck hurts though.

They played a lot of stuff from NANE, as you’d expect. They played quite a lot of the new stuff right at the start though which is why I think the crowd took a while to warm up. Lots of the usual stuff (Die Laughing, Nowhere, Teethgrinder etc). Neil’s drumming was bloody amazing!

mid life crisis in Chit-Chat

Title: mid life crisis

Yes I’m having one. I guess it’s the shock of now being the wrong side of 30 :(

Check out http://www.smurftastic.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk to see my great plan on how to overcome my midlife blues.

Re: when your bored… in Chit-Chat

I don’t really get bored. There’s always tons of stuff to be getting on with. And if I have a few spare moments then I listen to some music, read or do a bit of writing.

Re: Oh joy… in General Therapy? Topics

:D

That has to be one of the most bizarre things I’ve heard for a long time. Do you think they’ll add it to the new set?

Re: How old are Therapy? fans???? in General Therapy? Topics

I’m 30. I got hooked years ago when a friend gave me a copy of Nurse. Being old I’m not able to recall ages exactly but I was in 6th form at the time.

Does my son get the record as the youngest fan? He’s been listening since he was about 2 when he wouldn’t let us go into the car without taking So Much for the Ten Year Plan along with us. He’s 6 now and thinks the new album is brilliant. He’s now convinced he wants to be a drummer when he grows up.

Re: Most Depressive T? Song…??? in General Therapy? Topics

Gone

Takes me back to some very traumatic memories that happened that year and cuts far too close to the bone for my own comfort. Always makes me cry.

Having said that, I think it’s a fantastic track and listening to it now, it has a certain “pick me upness” about it because it reminds me of how far I’ve come since I was a screwed up 15 year old.

Re: John Peel in Chit-Chat

Very sad. My sympathies are with his family.

I liked the way he promoted such a huge range of musical styles. Even at 65 he was a breath of fresh air amongst all the homogenized rubbish you get on radio.

Re: Who’s Got Their Tickets? in Therapy? Live

Leadmill as usual for me.

Re: help needed in Therapy? Live

Title: hmm

Agree with everything said so far about Sheffield and would add that a visit to the Fat Cat pub is also highly recommended. But it is a bit limited on what it has to offer during the day, depending on what you were looking for, and compared to other places. Still, public transport around the area is pretty good.

Glasgow is a fantastic city with loads to do. A trip to the People’s Palace is a must if only to see Billy Conolly’s banana boots. Beers cheap too. Byres Road - excellent place for a pub crawl. Easy to get round the best bits using the underground or trains. And contrary to popular belief a very friendly place.

Re: List Where You Want T? in Therapy? Live

In my back garden playing loud enough to drown out the crap my annoying neighbour blasts out.

Re: where is martin in General Therapy? Topics

No they didn’t have a stand in (don’t know how they’d manage to get a replacement who knows all the relevant parts at such short notice). Thought it was a bit odd that they didn’t mention where he was though. Poor Martin - ear problems cause so much pain. Get well soon.

Re: DVD delay in General Therapy? Topics

Chuffin hell! Forgot about the post strike! Think I’m gonna try buying it from a shop tomorrow and cancelling the amazon order.

Re: DVD delay in General Therapy? Topics

Hmm, I pre-ordered mine from amazon ages ago (I mean like back in September some time I think). Normally this means I get it within 24hrs of release. However, today they are telling me my estimated delivery is between 7th and 11th November! Something has gone very screwey somewhere here.

Re: DVD question in General Therapy? Topics

Does that not pose some interesting legal questions then? I ask coz we have to tag all our stuff at work with copyright disclaimer things, and we get told off by our legal department if we do anything daft like have a spelling mistake or provide the wrong date etc.

Not that I understand the finer points of the copyright laws you undertand. I just know that as far as our company goes, having stuff like incorrect dates can leave us in a bit of a sticky situation of anyone wanted to challenge us and all that.

Re: what was the last gig you went to? in Chit-Chat

Spineshank, Ill Nino, Chimaira at Rock City a couple of weeks ago. Got a few local bands I’ve not seen before to check out later this week.

Re: “Metal band” ??? in General Therapy? Topics

Hmm, metal with punk attitude was how my ex used to describe them.

But it’s always so difficult to decide how to vote! I mean, how do you choose between the incredibly sexy Michael and the cute, lovely Andy. Or all those gorgeous, sweaty people in the crowd! It’s impossible :)

Ever feel your being picked on? in Chit-Chat

Title: Ever feel your being picked on?

my house got broken into last night - while I was asleep upstairs some kind people helped themselves to my purse and DVD player.

Still, at least I’ve got time to get another DVD player before the T? dvd gets released. Any recommendations for what I should buy?

Re: sex poll 2 in Chit-Chat

Why do people never put an “all of the above” option? I mean, they’re all gorgeous and have the most gorgeous fans (well, there was an awful lot of gorgeous people about last time I saw them), so everyone should get their kit off and then we’d all be happy! :)

Re: Average Age in Chit-Chat

tatty seaside town wrote:

Really? Because of the huge power of the male brain and they know it then what women like? *lol* or cause of the need of viagra at about 40?

:)

Nah. It’s something to do with us women relaxing more as we get older, knowing what we want, and being more prepared to tell the guys what they’re doing wrong etc.

All I can say is if this year’s been anything to go by, I can’t bloody wait to be 30! :D

Worst kept secret ever though. It was all over local message boards for at least a week beforehand!

We got told about it when we bought our tickets for the Rock City gig. The guy was telling everybody.

Re: Average Age in Chit-Chat

29. I’m told that in this modern age, for us women at least, life now begins at 30 (not 40). The sex is supposed to get better, apparently.

Have you heard of the Ig-Nobel awards? I hadn’t but take a look at this years winners. The one about the mallards is the one that caught my eye.

Re: Graveltrap in Other Bands & Artists

I don’t know their stuff well enough to comment. But they are only youngsters so perhaps they have a bit of talent lurking inside there just waiting to burst out. I mean, they weren’t the worst band I’ve ever seen (that would probably have to be Schism).

Perhaps they should go onto the “keep an eye on” pile.

Re: Bands that get gradually worse in Other Bands & Artists

Sabotage wrote:

My theory is that most bands have got 6 good albums in them, then they start either getting worse or just churn out the same old stuff.

I’d pretty much agree with that and add to it. I think the time between album releases affects this. Bands who get one good album then churn out lots of stuff in quick succession and allow themselves to become slaves to the money making machine ultimately end up producing utter pants. Bands who allow themselves a bit of space to relax often come back with some of their best stuff. I think this is because the rest allows them time to experience new things, or the old things in a new way. Without that your creativity gets stunted.

Obviously, there are exceptions to every rule.

Re: Graveltrap in Other Bands & Artists

Yes. I saw them live way back in March. They were the opening act on the Over the Moon Tour (from Moonska Europe). I didn’t think they were anything special really. Bit too much like lots of other bland poppy stuff that supposedly passes as punk these days.

Re: MSN Chat in Chit-Chat

get a mac? use linux?

For chats - use Yahoo?

There are alternatives out there for everything that Microsoft are involved in - you just got to search for them. And you have to be prepared for some inter-operability issues. The only real benefit of using Microsoft products is that you can be pretty certain that everything will hang together reasonably well, and usually on the first pass.
